I have loved cameras and the art of photography since I was a child when I had a makeshift darkroom rigged up on a masonite board across the bathtub at my parents' home in the East End of London, England.
I attended Hornsey School of Art in London in 1973, where drawing, painting and photography were my primary media. After extensive travels in Asia I moved to Madison in 1979. I continued to take photographs throughout my life as I earned a Masters degree in Counseling Psychology and began my career in that field. My passion for the art and science of photography found a resurgence with the advent of the digital age. My digital darkroom is far more convenient and versatile than the old chemical set-up. I have worked with digital cameras and software since my first Nikon P5000 and Photoshop 3.0, advancing with the technology over the years. I shot my first wedding back in 1975 and have enjoyed portraiture and travel photography since that time, attempting to capture the most unique moments in time as seen through the artist's eye.
My work is intended to elevate the mundane into the realm of the mythical, to see beauty in everyday things and to encapsulate the significant moments of our lives in order to preserve them forever.
Every client has different needs and preferences. My initial goal is always to communicate clearly with the people I work with. By listening to the client, I am better able to understand their unique style. I can then bring my artistic and technical skills to the event to capture the desired spirit of the people and the event.
